Introduction

HAUS AND HARBOUR PTY LTD (ABN 50 691 218 372), trading as Haus & Harbour, operates hausandharbour.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Our store runs on Shopify, which means some of your data is processed through Shopify's platform. By using our website you agree to the practices set out here.

1. Personal information we collect

  • Contact and account information: name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses
  • Payment information: payment details processed securely by our payment providers. We do not store full card numbers
  • Transaction information: what you've viewed, what's in your cart, your order and purchase history
  • Technical information: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and cookie identifiers
  • Communications: anything you tell us when you contact customer support, and your marketing preferences

2. How we collect your data

  • Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us
  • Automatically through cookies and similar technologies as you browse (see section 8)
  • From third parties Shopify, our payment providers, our carriers, and our advertising and analytics providers

3. How we use your information

  • To process and fulfil your order, and to deliver it to you
  • To communicate with you about your order, returns, or enquiries
  • To send marketing communications, where you have opted in
  • To understand how our website is used and improve our products and store
  • To measure the performance of our advertising
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the site secure
  • To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

4. Analytics, advertising and tracking technologies

We use third-party tools that collect information about how you interact with our website, including for advertising measurement and audience building. These currently include:

  • Shopify Analytics: store and sales performance
  • Google Analytics 4: website traffic and behaviour analysis
  • Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API: advertising measurement and audience building for Facebook and Instagram
  • Klaviyo: email marketing delivery, engagement tracking and audience segmentation

Some of these providers may combine information collected from our site with data they hold from other sources. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your Google and Meta account settings, and you can manage cookie-based tracking through our cookie banner (see section 8).

We update this list when the tools we use change.

5. Sharing your information

We share personal information only where necessary:

  • Shopify: our e-commerce platform
  • Payment providers: including Shop Pay, Afterpay and Zip, to process your payment
  • Australian Delivery Carrier Services: Our trusted delivery carriers, so your order can be delivered
  • Advertising and analytics providers: as listed in section 4
  • Professional advisers and regulators: where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of the providers listed above store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Union and Canada. Where we disclose your personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual protections. By providing your information you acknowledge that it may be processed overseas.

7. Data security and retention

  • We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) to protect data in transit, and our platform providers apply their own security controls at rest.
  • Retention: we retain order and transaction records for 7 years to meet Australian tax and record-keeping obligations. Marketing contact data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Support correspondence is retained for 2 years.

8. Cookies and consent

When you first arrive at hausandharbour.com you'll see a cookie consent banner. You can accept, reject, or manage your preferences at any time.

We use the following categories of cookie:

  • Strictly necessary: required for the site to function: cart contents, checkout, security, load balancing. These cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics/performance: help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
  • Marketing/advertising: used to measure and personalise advertising across platforms including Google and Meta.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent parts of the site, including checkout, from working.

9. Your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete
  • Opt out of marketing at any time, via the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us
  • Request deletion of your personal information. We will delete it where we are able to, we may need to retain certain records where we have a legal obligation to do so (for example, transaction records held for tax purposes), where the information is needed to complete an open order or return, or where it is required to establish or defend a legal claim. We'll tell you if any part of your request can't be actioned and why.

10. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first and we'll work to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
